Regarding the recent passing of Brother Nicholas Colangelo... I would like to thank all of the Knights who came to the calling hours and funeral services for my uncle, as well as the Knights of Columbus Council #246 in general. The presence of the Knights really showed the respect given to a fellow member, and the principle of what the Knights really stand for. Once again, on behalf of Nick's family and I, we want to extend our gratitude and appreciation for the respect the Knights of Columbus extended to my beloved Uncle Nick. He will truly and forever be missed. Sincerely, Anthony R. D'Ambrosi From Wendell Neugebauer...
It is our plan to do this at all the Catholic high schools in the area, but even at the low wholesale cost of $4.50 per catechism, this becomes a costly project. Perhaps the various K of C councils in the Capital District will consider financial support or sponsor a catechism distribution at their local Catholic high school.
The need for us to actively support the teaching of our faith was clearly expressed by Pope Benedict XVI in his address to Catholic Educators, Catholic University of America, on April 17, 2008: “This sacrifice continues today. It is an outstanding apostolate of hope, seeking to address the material, intellectual and spiritual needs of over three million children and students. It also provides a highly commendable opportunity for the entire Catholic community to contribute generously to the financial needs of our institutions. Their long-term sustainability must be assured. Indeed, everything possible must be done, in cooperation with the wider community, to ensure that they are accessible to people of all social and economic strata. No child should be denied his or her right to an education in faith, which in turn nurtures the soul of a nation.” Brother Ted Butler Writes... Thank you for you invitation to Old Timers night, Past Grand Knights night and past Faithful Navigators night. I will not return to Saratoga until the end of June, thus I will miss these wonderful events. Thanks again for the invite. Sincerely, Ted Butler Brother Bill Staudinger Writes... Regarding “Pray For The Sick.” Please remove my name from this area as I am now doing fine, thanks for all the prayers from all the members of Council #246. Your website is wonderful to keep in touch. God bless, Bill Chaplain’s Report
Bishop Lori’s article in Columbia magazine centers on the beginning of the Creed, “I believe in God the Father Almighty, Creatorof heaven and earth”. Again, this month there are so many ways to go, so I selected “God the Father Almighty”. God reveals Himself as the mighty one “to whom nothing is impossible” (Luke 1:37).His creation of the world was done out of love. His love for humanity is shown by Him sending His Son, Jesus, as our Redeemer, and by the forgiveness of sins. The Church directs her prayers to the “Almighty and Eternal God”. In Latin, omnipotens sempiterne Deus.
There was a record crowd at the Prayer Rally on May 13, with fourmembers from our council. Some good speakers, the Rosary, and patriotic songs were on the agenda. After the rally, many went to the Senate and Assembly chambers to talk to politicians about sensitivesubjects like abortion, same-sex marriage, embryonic stem cell research, to name a few. If the voters do not express their opinions vehemently, I’m afraid New York State will be on a dangerous immoral path.
There were 18 knights at the Rosary on April 5. A good crowd, but more would be better. Come join us in June. —Deacon Bill Gaul Faithful Navigator’s Report
