The initial meeting of the KofC Tuesday Golf League will take place on Tuesday March 10th 2009 at the Kof C home at 7 p.m. We will discuss the upcoming season as well as entertain new ideas from our members. If you know of anyone who is interested in joining our league please have them contact John Tuohy, 584 3472. John will place the names on list for us to work from.

If you participated last season and are not going to play this season please let John know so we can move to replace you. We are assuming a late April opening at this time. (weather permitting)

Welcome to the K of C Golf league for 2009.  The league officers hope you have an enjoyable golf season.  The following information is provided as a reminder to all golfers.

USGA rules apply except:

1) Gimmees – Be reasonable in the application of gimmees.  Inside the leather should be the standard.

2) Preferred lies will be played in accordance with club rules.  A ball lying in your own fairway may be lifted and cleaned.

3) Out-of-bounds on hole #16 at Brookhaven Golf Club – Penalty is one stroke only. No distance penalty. Play ball from where it crossed the out-of-bounds stake
line.

Relief Procedure:

1) A player is entitled to drop his ball, without penalty, within one club length of object, i.e., fence, sprinkler, rocks, etc., not nearer the hole affording him a clear
stance and swing.

2) Even in the rough, a player may drop a ball, within one club length, with opponent’s permission, to avoid hitting a rock, tree stump, etc.

Considerations:

          1) Play ready golf!

          2) Don’t take more than 2 minutes to look for a ball.

          3) Don’t mark scores at the green.  Move to the next tee.

          4) Place clubs and carts at the side of the green closest to the
              next tee.

          5) Please try and watch the flight of both your ball and your
opponent’s. Marking its landing spot will speed up play.

          6) An average 9-hole round should be completed in two hours.

Keep Pace!

Scorecards will be at the course by 3PM each Tuesday.  Look for them in the pro shop.  When completing your card, record your total gross strokes for each hole.  Handicaps will be applied by the league secretary.  After your match, when both player’s scores have been verified and the card has been signed by both players, cards are to be turned in at the K of C home.  Only cards that have not been completed (those where one or both players have not yet entered a score), should be left in the box at the course.

In the event you are unable to find or use your league supplied scorecard, you may use a regular Brookhaven scorecard.  If you use a Brookhaven card clearly write your full name & the date that the round is intended for on the card.

Changes for 2009:

1)  The season will consist of 18 weeks.  Position rounds have been eliminated.

2)  E Flight members and players 65 and over may use the gold tees.  You must inform the League Secretary of your choice to do so.  Once opted for, the gold tees must be used for the entire season.

3)  Make-up matches must be completed no later than 2 weeks after the originally scheduled match to be eligible for points.

Thanks for your cooperation & have a great season.

Dave Marsh, President

Joe Scensny, Vice President

Bob Badaszewski, Treasurer

John Tuohy, League Secretary
